On Thursday, January 23, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Prince George RCMP responded to a bomb threat reported at a restaurant located on the 6400-block of Hart Highway.

Restaurant staff informed authorities that they had received a phone call in which the caller threatened to blow up the establishment. In response, staff evacuated the building while waiting for police to arrive. Officers who conducted a thorough search of the premises found nothing suspicious inside or outside the restaurant.

Through their investigation, police identified a 14-year-old resident of Prince George as the person who made the call. After speaking with the youth and his guardians, investigators learned that the individual had made the call as a prank. The youth, who has no prior history with the police, has been referred to the Restorative Justice unit for further resolution, according to Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The RCMP reminds the public that making false bomb threats is a serious offense. Individuals found responsible for such threats may face charges of Uttering Threats and/or Mischief.
