ਸਰੀ ‘ਚ ਵੱਖੋ ਵੱਖ ਸਟੋਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਨ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ‘ਚੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਖਰੀਦਦਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਦੇ ਬੈਗ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਹਿੰਗੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਪਿੰਗ ਮਾਲ ‘ਚ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੋਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਨਾ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾਨ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੁੱਲ਼ ਵੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਚੋਰੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਦੇ।

ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਛੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ‘ਚ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ‘ਚੋਂ ਚੋਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ 11 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

The Surrey RCMP South Community Response Unit (CRU) achieved significant results in their enforcement efforts, making multiple arrests and confiscating hundreds of dollars worth of stolen merchandise during a “Boost and Bust” operation targeting retail thieves in Newton.

On December 13, 2023, the South CRU collaborated with various partners, including the Surrey RCMP Police Mental Health Outreach Team (PMHOT), Transit Police, Transit Security, and local Loss Prevention Officers in the Newton Core. This joint effort aimed to combat shoplifting during the holiday season.

The South CRU successfully made 11 arrests and recovered approximately thirteen hundred dollars in stolen goods. Business owners exercised their discretion to impose multiple bans, and two individuals are facing charges for theft under $5000. Additionally, the Police Mental Health Outreach Team played a crucial role in offering outreach referrals to individuals grappling with addiction and/or homelessness.
